Here at Pets Forever Loved, we love everything to do with our pets. Over the years I have owned a number of different pets. That said I am traditionally a cat lover and currently have only one pet, my cat Amber, who has been with us going on 17 years now.
When you are lucky enough to have a pet join your family, choosing the right name for it can be fun but also a bit daunting. I know I always take some time to choose. I like to get to know my pet and really want a name that suits it.
As a child I had been told the story of a cat called Felix who was terribly naughty. Our big boy, Felix, who sadly passed on a few months ago, certainly lived up to his name. He was naughty, funny and so loving. He really was a crazy cat. I cannot imagine any other name suiting him.
While you can have so much fun choosing a pet’s name, remember, you have to live with that name for the duration of their lives. I thought I would look at some cute pet names and see if we could have some fun choosing a name for your pet.

Some Useful Hints When Naming Your New Pet
Take your time choosing your pet’s name. If you end up changing it a few days later, you are going to end up with one confused and potentially unhappy pet.
Your pet’s personality should always be of prime consideration. A very playful or active pet would probably suit a name like “Bullet”. While a quiet timid pet could be called “Snooze”.
You could write down what kind of animal you have and note what their characteristics are. For example, a new naughty kitten will have very different characteristics to a new pet goldfish. You could call the kitten “Fluff Ball” and the goldfish “Shark”.
Your pet’s color may be a determining factor in choosing a cute name. I actually named our cat “Amber” based on her coloring. A white mouse may be called “Ghost Raider”, have fun and use your imagination.

More Factors To Consider When Naming Your Pet
You don’t want to choose an embarrassing name and then end up having to use it front of children or yelling it down the street.
Picture yourself using your chosen name and how it will sound when you need to yell it out.
When you first get your adorable pet and they are this small, cute, naughty ball of fluff, “Tinkerbell” may be a good name, but do try to to think ahead and imagine what your pet will look like in say one year. Will “Tinkerbell” still suit it?
